The South Central Library System (SCLS) Foundation is honored to award Kristi Williams the Cornerstone Award for her advocacy, dedication, and support of libraries.
The Cornerstone Event was held Thursday October 12, 2023 at the Waunakee Library. First Business Bank and Hausmann Group Insurance sponsored the event. It was a wonderful evening to celebrate Kristi’s achievements at the local, state, and federal level.
Tell Me What You Are Reading

One of my favorite questions to ask is, what are you reading? I also like to ask, what is your favorite book? I asked guests of the Cornerstone Event these questions. One guest told me their favorite book from book club 30 years ago. Others had suggestions for mysteries. I have reserved their recommendations from the library system. Most recently I have been reading cozy mystery series, including the Vintage Cookbook Series by Ellen Byron and the Magical Dressmaking Mystery Series by Melissa Bourbon. (I recommend you reserve copies and enjoy.) My librarian recently recommended the audiobook, Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reed. I have been listening to the book in my car as I run errands. She was correct, it is really good as an audiobook.
It is so easy to checkout books at our local libraries. But the work to provide this resource takes the continued dedication. Thank you to the librarians, library staff, library boards, Friends of the Library, and the South Central Library staff for supporting our communities.
Community partnership is needed. Thank you to our community leaders, including Kristi Williams who was honored with this year’s Cornerstone Award. Thank you to First Business Bank and Hausmann Group Insurance for their continued financial support of the Foundation and their sponsorship of this year’s Cornerstone Event. Thank you to the individuals and companies who donated the South Central Library System this year. The funds will be used in our library system.

As of October 6, 2023, the fund balance was $5,411,088.61, of which $255,548.59 was held on behalf of the Foundation.
The gross return since inception on Dec. 1, 2012, is 5.58% and the one-year return was 11.55%.
